Each One Reach One

During the recent pandemic, the Food Bank saw an increase in need as an average of 170 families per week were needing food on Monday afternoons.

The volunteers shifted from stocking shelves and people filling their own bags to filling bags to be delivered out to cars as those in need of food were served through a drive thru system utilizing many volunteers and hundreds of bags of donated food.

As the pandemic continued, the donations continued to pour in from those who attend the Church and those in the community that saw a need. The Food Bank remained open almost every Monday to meet the needs of our community.

Neighborhoods and individuals turned their clubhouses and driveways into drop off locations for neighbors to make donations. Word spread of a way to show love to others during a time of distancing and isolation and the result was truly miraculous!

On average, over 650 bags of food were donated during the pandemic.

The Food Bank motto, “Each One Reach One”, came to life this year as each can of tuna, box of pop tarts, or bag of rice was not just an item of food but a gift of love that reached one family in our community.

Donating reaches families with basic needs but also the Gospel in action as we share the love of Christ with our neighbors.

It truly is a blessing to give and a blessing to those who receive. To join this ministry or to learn more about how you can assist with this outreach to the community, contact us below.

Get Involved with Our Ministries

One of the most important ways to get connected at The Church of the Cross is to first become a member of our congregation. If you are not a member and you are interested in learning more about membership, please call the Parish Office (843.757.2661) and speak to Sue.

Membership begins with an informal meeting with clergy. The next step in getting connected would be joining a Bible Study or small group to be in community with other Believers.

Pray

Want us to pray for someone in need? Submit a prayer request (with their permission) and your prayer will be communicated with our clergy, Church staff, and Intercessory Prayer Team volunteers.

The person will remain on the prayer list for four weeks or until the office is notified otherwise.

Give

Everything we own and everything we have comes from God. So, when we give, we simply offer him a small portion of the abundance he has already given to us.

Giving is an expression of our thankfulness and praise to God, and there are various ways to give at The Church of the Cross.
